This is a first hand story telling. It is about the slaves that lived on and about my Great x3 Grandmother's plantation in Richmond, Virginia.Sallie May uses the speech pattern of the African- Americans from the pre-Civil War south. Allot of this may sound degrading or racist by today's stranded. And I think in certain areas it is. But I cannot condemn her for conveying what was normal world view to her. This was written in the 1870's , years after the war ended. I am told that she wrote this in rebuttal to "Uncle Tom's Cabin".MER
