This was an easy read but nothing that intriguing or powerful. It's hard to relate to a non-millennial discussing millennials even though he does a great job of using examples and citing research. As a millennial myself, I see this book more for non-millennials than for millennials. He seemed to discuss millennials as being so different from other generations rather than also looking at the commonalities.
I've been a big fan of Jon Mertz' Thin Difference movement for the past two years. His style is warm and insightful, generous and practical. His new book, Activate Leadership, is yet another extension of Jon's passion to help bridge the leadership gap between generations. Millennials will be inspired to pursue a purpose-driven path. Older generations will find ways to engage, inspire, and empower the Millennial cohort.

The metaphor mentioned in the subtitle (Aspen truths) was right on target and established a great framework for this book. While the primary intended audience for Activate Leadership is millennials, the leadership lessons in the book really apply to anyone. All of the author's points were effectively made -- and they made sense! If you're looking for a well-written quick read on leadership, I highly recommend this book.
Jon Mertz is a phenomenal man with great insight into human nature. He uses his talents to help millennials be more powerful in their leadership. What's nice about Activate Leadership is that the message transcends generations. Very practical and actionable in its content, you stand the chance of becoming more self-aware as a leader. This is something we all need today.
Jon has the perfect bled of statistical data, experience and insights to enlighten, empower and equip millennials to lead with their unique skill-set. I found this book useful not only to understand and work effectively with millennials but also to glean deeper insights into every generation's leadership journey. This book is a must read for its pragmatic advice and application to be strong leaders in today's culture.
Jon Mertz has transcended the babble-speak about millennials and captured the true essence of what this cohort brings to the world. Even better, thru the metaphor of the aspen, he offers solid wisdom into how millennials can use powerful leadership traits to move this world in a positive direction. The book might be small in pages but it is very deep in wisdom. I am going to suggest it to every millennial I know.. and actually, Boomers can use this wisdom too.

This marvelous little book inspired me to explore my core beliefs and reassess my POV (Point of View). In an ever-changing world, knowing when to change your POV and when to remain steadfast is key. POV sets your direction, creates self-accountability and opens up areas of growth and opportunity. I found the writing to be wonderfully crisp and clear. An essential read for those aspiring to be leaders and those who mentor them.
